A soldier stands guard near the 3,000-year-old red granite head believed to be that of Ramses II, one of ancient Egypt's most powerful pharaohs, near the site where it was discovered in Tell Basta, 80 km (50 miles) northeast of Cairo, September 27, 2008. Archaeologists are continuing to dig around the site in hopes of finding the rest of the statue and possible remains of a temple built by Ramses, Zahi Hawass, the head of Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities, said in a statement.
